All auto manufacturers are cutting models that don’t fit in anymore. Following 2011, there probably will not be another Ford Ranger made in The United States There has barely been a major change produced to the Ranger in a long time. The Ranger didn’t get much of a change in any way, because there was no have to change the best selling light pickup. In 2011, the Ranger as it is known will have its swan song and probably will not be produced anymore. The Ecoboost turbo V6 in the new F150 is what Ford is going to try and emphasize.
Throughout North The United States, the Ford Ranger was the best selling light pickup for practically all of the 1990s. It was every little thing a person could want in a compact pickup. The Ranger was priced less than a full size truck and got about 20 miles to the gallon. Equal to any off road or on road task, the Ranger was known for durability and reliability. That said, the market share went down after awhile. Nissan, Toyota Motors, and other businesses figured out that some people wanted crew cab seating in a light truck. Over 348,000 Ford Rangers were sold in 1999, according to Wikipedia. Sales were only 55,000 only 10 years later.
An era concludes
The obvious choice for Ford was either redesign it or make something new. It is obvious which way Ford went. The business decided to start over. There will be a redesigned model, according to USA Today. That said, it isn’t going to be produced or sold in the U.S. Ford will be trying to push the turbo V-6 F150 instead. However, the F-150 costs several thousand dollars more than the Ranger. Fleet sales have been the bulk of Ranger sales for the last few years running.
Oh, and a facility is shutting down
Adding insult to injury, Ford is also closing the facility that used for making the Ranger. St. Paul, Minn., will lose the Ford facility that used to make the Ranger. Ford did try to give the truck a facelift. The company tried a crew cab Ranger model, however found it would sell better with a different name. That model is nevertheless getting sold. It’s called the Explorer Sport Trac.
