Mel Gibson has received many publicity from the scandal between him and Oksana Grigorieva, his ex-girlfriend. It is all bad. Lawsuits and a domestic violence charge are both looking like they might happen. A domestic dispute, or at least rumors of one, would be one thing. There was also the release of the “Mel Gibson tapes” which doesn’t help This could seriously hurt his career.

He should have found out how he can sell the “Mel Gibson tapes”. If he trademarked the phrase, he might even make a fortune. However, assuming they’re real (see Radaronline.com), this may have done more damage to his career than he can be able to recuperate from. William Morris Endeavor already dropped him from their agency. The thing about Hollywood is that if you don’t have an agent, you do not have a SAG card, which means you do not work as an actor or director, or at least it is very hard to do so. So this may be the end of Gibson’s career.
Tolerance extends only so far
After this “Mel Gibson tapes” saga, there likely won’t be a “Lethal Weapon 5.”. A person has the right to hold any belief, and have any attitude they wish, no matter how misguided. They can say anything they want about whoever they want, and also the government can’t do a lot about it. There are going to be other consequences.
Get rid of the crazy person?
Does John Rocker sound familiar? After the previous baseball relief pitcher went on racist tirades, the Atlanta Braves railroaded him out of town, and his career in MLB did not last long after that. Think about Rush Limbaugh. After the Donovan McNabb debacle, he was right away shown the door by ESPN. Then there was NFL player Larry Johnson. After the homophobic comments he said, he was released immediately. Granted, he also was a lousy running back at the time. Just because somebody is racist or prejudice doesn’t mean they can stay around working individuals.
