Will T-Mobile and iPhone 4 be a match in 2010?

The iPhone 4 antenna issue may not warrant a recall in Apple’s estimation, but that isn’t really because they’re too afraid of the cost of such action. The iPad made Q3 2010 a tremendous success for the business, writes PC Magazine. Apple made $ 3.25 billion net profit on revenue of $ 15.7 billion. Yet that may not even be one of the most explosive news coming out of the land of Steve Jobs. If the Cult of Mac’s “highly placed source” is accurate, T-Mobile may start selling the iPhone 4 by third quarter 2010. Furthermore, PC World reports that this merger is 80 percent certain.

iPhone 4 would make T-Mobile a heavyweight

Currently the fourth-largest carrier within the U.S., T-Mobile would certainly vault over AT and T, Verizon and Sprint if the iPhone 4 deal happens. Frequency issues could get in the way, indicates PC World. T-Mobile uses a non-standard band, and iPhone 4 hasn’t been tested on all the carrier’s ranges.

Another day, an additional iPhone 4 rumor

Considering Cult of Mac’s overall track record with predictions, PC World may be right in reminding us not to lose our heads. Steve Jobs may not have cast his death stare at T-Mobile yet, and the carrier may have room to absorb the onrush of potential iPhone 4 customers. Another plus on T-Mobile’s side is that Apple already works with its parent company (Deustche Telekom) in Europe.

Smartphone owners – would you make the jump to T-Mobile?

Realistically, T-Mobile won’t have bandwidth to spare for long if Apple dives into their pool. Even with antenna troubles, iPhone 4 is quite attractive to tech buyers. Legions of devoted fans have kept iPhone 4 standing toe-to-toe with Droid and America’s top smartphones. But perhaps you see it differently; let us know.
